India's five-match one-day series against Sri Lanka has been postponed. The series was scheduled to be held in India after the current tour by Pakistan, but the Fixtures Committee, which met in Mumbai today, decided to put it off.

Explaining the decision, Gautam Dasgupta, the joint secretary of the BCCI, said: "In view of the inability of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to confirm the itinerary and the recent developments in the SLC administration, the committee felt that the matches should be postponed to a mutually convenient date for both the BCCI and the SLC."

The Sri Lankan board and the government of the country have been locked in a controversial battle to wrest control of the game. The sports minister suspended the board for improper financial management, but the board members went ahead with their annual general meeting in defiance of the government's order, and later locked up the SLC headquarters so that government-appointed officials could not access the office. Amid such confusion, the Indian board thought it best to postpone the series to a later date, by which time the crisis in Sri Lankan cricket would have been resolved.

Good for Indian players. They can have some rest between the ODI series against Pakistan and the Test series against Srilanka.

That is exactly what I was implying.

It was nice to see more ODI matches in India. Indian players are at the ripe stage and most of the players would retire in 3 to 4 years. If they play 25 ODI per year there would be around 100 ODIs. It would nice to see Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, and Anil Kumble break more records and play more matches before they retire.

After all Indians are at the 8th position in ICC ranking. Ah if they beat Srilanka and wipe the series they would have reaches the stronger position at ranking. It would take months to see another live ODI match in Indian grounds.

So, India should play more and more cricket with Zimbo and BD,
which may have more chances to break lots of records for them before retirement.:)

Again, couple of ODI series with Zimbo and BD will do 100% for India with ICC ranking too.

btw, I am not serious, and I understand what you meant.:)
