Exciting news.

Left Arm Spinner Nadif Chowdhury and Middle Order batsman Mahmudullah Riad will go to Lord's to learn about the art of captaincy in a 'young cricketer captaincy' course. The duration of the course is 2 months. So may be these 2 players will meet with our national players sometime next month?

The news report also includes that 4 players - Mehrab Hossain Junior, Syed Rassel, Shaheen Hossain & Shafaq Al Zabir are all going to Australia. Mehrab & Rassel is going for participating in the Darwin league and keeper Shaheen and Shafaq will go to take part in a higher training program.

I never saw Nadif as a possible captain. It was always quoted that Nadif has a lot of talent, but i didnt know about his leadership skills. Anyone know n e thing abt Riad?

Great news...

I am pretty excited about Shafaq. He is tall, 6'3" and pretty fast. If we can groom him properly, he could be a great bowler.

Good luck to all of them...

:duh:
what's there to explain after so long time?
Nafees has been groomed as a future captain already. BCB has already given him that exposure and Nafees has been taken as one of our almost 'Sure future captains'. Are you completely unaware about that?

But then again.... the two players that BCB is sending now... are the next generation, and players like Nafees/Enamul have probably crossed the level (I mean age) of this training. So it's a good desicion by BCB.

NADIF quitely is having an awesome season. Until the 7th round he is the leading wiket taker. He is also one of the top scorers with 351 runs and 3 half centuries. Good strike rate too. His first class average is over 35. And he isn't 18 yet.

Unfortunately he's also an SLA.

As crickethorizon mentioned, Nafees has been already groomed as a future captain. Plus his position in the team will be solid when the time for Bashar's retirement comes (considering he can keep scoring runs regularly), and he will have the right age and experience for becoming captain.

And besideds logical reasons, I would like to add that he will always have chance to learn a lot from his uncle, who was a great captain

He went to English medium school and is good at English. Has the arrogance of Ganguli. Remember how he brushed aside England's bowlers in that interview after he scored that century in the BCCB vs England match? And thats before he even played his first test.
