View Full Version : Pakistan vs India: 6th ODI (LAST MATCH)

April 16, 2005, 11:12 AM
Hmm... this one is happening a day quicker... only two days rest instead of three. IMO, there is no point of this ODI, no logic whatsoever. Who wants a drawn series after five excellent matches? The Kotla pitch was just laid a few days ago... the stadium is still underconstruction, that's total BS, Pakistan should just call off this match and say, thank you for this series, but we're taking our trophy home.

OK... I'm enough pessimism for one day... hopefully Pakistan will win this one.

India is sticking with the same team from last ODI, and I expect Pakistan to do the same.

April 16, 2005, 11:27 AM
Lookin forward to another thrilling match.....Shud be interesting.....

April 16, 2005, 11:37 AM
I too am looking forward to an exciting match. I just hoped Ganguly was here and got a century with Tendulkar... but he isnt....

I am hoping for a great run chase or something similar and an Afridi knock would be great.

April 16, 2005, 12:20 PM
It will be a good match as it's the last of this great series. Both teams will try their best, and both Mushy and Singh will be watching.

Don't expect another Afridi knock... most likihood is bowled first ball.

April 16, 2005, 10:43 PM
Afridi picked up 22 from the 2nd over! (4x4, 1x6)

April 16, 2005, 11:19 PM
Afridi is quite boring today. Only 40* in 21 balls so far.

April 16, 2005, 11:21 PM
Afridi OUT (44, caught behind off Nehra) :joy: :joy:

April 17, 2005, 12:18 AM
Pakistan cruising along... 141/2... 22.5 overs... RR at 6.18

"Harbhajan to Malik, out Youhana Run Out!!, guides it to gully and they scamper for the single, Sachin gets rid of the ball in a flash and makes a direct hit, its very very close and we believe the benefit of doubt should have gone to the batsman" cricBuzz

Bad Call!!!

April 17, 2005, 12:32 AM
Youhana wrongly given run out by Indian 3rd umpire Harry Harund. Most of the guys that are watching the match will know that it wasn't out. No benefit of the doubt was give.

Very poor umpiring. But, was an Indian umpire, had to rule in the favour of the home team. Sad really.

April 17, 2005, 12:40 AM
Youhana should have been out lbw two overs ago. It just evens out :)

April 17, 2005, 12:52 AM
Tintin, lame response... the third umpire has absolutely no reason to give a wrong decision... he has all the time in the world and technology right in front of him... he's biased and should be fired. Making a wrong call on LBWs are nowhere near as bad, it's a split second decision.

It's sad really... Indian umpire resorted to cheating. What happened to neutral umpires?

What Y Khan is doing.:-/

Undoing all the good that Afridi have done.

April 17, 2005, 01:20 AM
Don't worry Pak fans, this Indian team is cursed by Dada. They won't win :P

April 17, 2005, 02:00 AM
Pakistan 277-4 in 46.2 overs...

April 17, 2005, 02:17 AM
49.2 Nehra to Inzamam-ul-Haq, OUT: another wide delivery outside the off stump, Inzi goes after it and gets beaten by a LONG way, loud appeal for caught behind and the finger goes up, umpire Jayaprakash gets it terrible wrong! Inzi walks away shaking his head

Edited on, April 17, 2005, 7:20 AM GMT, by Fazal.

April 17, 2005, 02:18 AM
Inzamam wrongly given out. He was miles away from the ball.

April 17, 2005, 02:26 AM
Something must be done about umpires... they have been consistently pathetic lately... even third umpires... especially against Pakistan.

Anyways... Pakistan ends up with 303-8

April 17, 2005, 02:49 AM
Sehwag could've been gone for 0, survived because Rana overstepped and was called no-ball.

April 17, 2005, 03:22 AM
CURSE of Dada on action :joy: :joy: :joy:

Both Sehwag and Tendu gone!!!

April 17, 2005, 04:41 AM
Game halted due to security reasons. Crowd throwing stuff on the field. Pakistani players have gone back to the hut.

The security has cleaned up all the bottles that were thrown in by the Indian crowd.

Very hospitable India.

April 17, 2005, 04:45 AM
Very poor sporting Indian spectators. This us unusual in our fields in BD. How about Pakistan?:fanflag:

April 17, 2005, 04:47 AM
In fact I'm enjoying this missile throwing:) Go Indians go!

April 17, 2005, 04:53 AM
Wow now Mr. Mongia gone! This Indian team is pathetic. I wasted my whole night to watch this garbage! Congretulations to Pakistan. You guys deserve this.

Is this the 3rd time a team has come from 2-0 behind to win a series?

Bangladesh did it at home just a few months ago.

Well done Pakistan!!! They have really played well in this tour! Congrats!!!

April 17, 2005, 06:38 AM
Throughout this series Pakistan showed more determination, strong nerves and common sense and most of all played as a team.It just reminds me old South African team!

April 17, 2005, 07:01 AM
Thank God we finally won a series... Excellent team performance and we ended up thrashing India with ease. :bravo:

April 17, 2005, 07:04 AM

April 17, 2005, 08:50 AM
:bravo: to Pakistan for batting superbly and bowling well. India was never in this game.....

I agree with you Spitfire_x86 the curse of the Dada strikes.

April 17, 2005, 08:57 AM
Sad news for India... Wright leaves for New Zealand, after all their achievements under him, they are right back to where they started from!

And Pakistan has totally made up for last year's fiasco.. the record now stands 8-2 in ODIs and 1-1 in tests since then!

April 17, 2005, 11:03 AM
Well done Pakistan ! It was alwayz on the cards.....

April 17, 2005, 12:01 PM
What a come back by Pakistan after loosing first 2 matches. They played well. So they deserve the cup.

April 17, 2005, 03:24 PM

Rana Naveed - Man of the Series

April 17, 2005, 03:32 PM
"jit gaeya re jit gaeya, Pakistan jit gaeya!"
It was a team effort- that all i have to say. And for those who questioned Younis Khan's inclusion/vice captaincy and my suggestion that he'll be a future captain- eat this!

April 17, 2005, 03:34 PM
It was Younis Khan who captained in the 6th ODI. Inzi was in the hut for the whole game. I think Younis captained brilliantly, Mashallah.

Younis also has the potential to be the next team Pakistan captain, after Inzi retires.

One of the best come back in one day cricket history.Congratulations to the Pakistani team for their excellent effort and winning the series under adverse condition in India.

Great pics, Sultan :great:

I hope you are joking... they lost two times with him, two times without him. Which means he had no impact at all. Hardly a curse.

What is this "Ganguly's Curse"? When did that get started?

April 17, 2005, 11:59 PM
Yeah! Younis Khan is looking good and looks like a future Captain for Pakistan although his place in Pakistan ODI team is not as automatic and simple as it might be for Tests.

It started after Indian selectors selected Ganguly-less team for last two ODIs. It was so unjustified that the team got automatically cursed.

In that two matches, India didn't get completely shattered. Afridi was looking like he could get out in any moment, instead of looking like bowlers' nightmare. And the horrible runouts.....only prove that threre is really a CURSE over the team :joy: :joy: :joy:

The Ganguly Curse

anyways, i must say that i was very, very impressed with how this young pakistan side went about with their business in the whole tour. they played as a unit, and inzy did a brilliant job leading from the front. i really hope they keep this up and don't get themselves entangled into match fixing issues. i also hope that the paki board will be more considerate from now on before dropping anyone - this team will do wonders if played regularly.

April 18, 2005, 12:21 PM
btw - how is/was the situation in india/pakistan after the match? trying to draw a comparison with the celebrations/reactions we have in BD...

April 18, 2005, 12:51 PM
India now are valued as a side with great cricketers but not a real team, as they showed to crumble each time they were under pressure in the series. It happened in the last test and in the last two ODI.
They seem to suffer for a lack of leadership and self reliance... just like AS Roma football team! :(
Anyway I suppose there will be some changes in the Indian side.

By the way, unbelievable but true, yesterday the evening news of italian national channel tv, Rai3, showed some images from India-Pakistan!
They sayed it is part of IndoPak peace dialogues, that cricket is a sort of religion in those countries and that Pakistan won 303-144 (they don't know the expression "win by x runs")
First time ever cricket on italian tv... will it happen again???

April 18, 2005, 03:08 PM
6th ODI was one sided. Pakistan outplayed india in every department. Was expecting more competitive match. though.
Musharraf got his triple bonus. 3 birth certs for him and his two brothers. giant oil painting of delhi chandni chowk where his parents lived and a cricket win with delicious indian chai

April 18, 2005, 04:47 PM
Xavier... cricket is not a religion in Pakistan like it is in India. Last year when India toured, the stadiums were empty in the test matches. A lot of people didn't even care about the ODIs. Indians take cricket too seriously. I'm not saying it's not heavily followed but not nearly like it is in India. Like the saying goes... "Cricket is our religion, and Sachin is our god."

April 21, 2005, 11:23 AM
lol then i guess its time for them to change their god

April 21, 2005, 12:46 PM
no mudsliding please

April 21, 2005, 06:34 PM
Well first of all, I think Sachin shouldn't be thrown rotten eggs at and the subject of all criticism. He's been going through a lot of pressure. Everybody expects him to score a hundred everytime he's in the crease, even regards and prayed as a "God" which is totally unacceptable.
I'm sure even he feels sick that he is looked at as a divine power. He's human too just like the rest of us, except he can do something better than other people in the world. Vivian Richards is probably more talented than Sachin but that doesn't mean he's "God"- at least he doesn't act like one(with his beard and chewing gum)!!!
So I think Indian supporters and Indian ppl should take every loss as a positive and build their side by playing proper cricket and selecting cricketers of that nature(like Rahul Dravid etc etc) instead of trying ppl out for a couple of games.
