From the Daily Star:

Whatmore renews his contract?
Sports Reporter

Speculation was rife yesterday in the cricket arena that Dav Whatmore has extended his contract for two more years with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The Australian coach's two-year contract expires on April 30 and Board announced a few days back that sealing the deal was only a matter of time.

Sources claimed that Whatmore signed the contract yesterday, but BCB officials kept denying it.

Whatmore left the Bangladesh team's training early yesterday, fuelling the rumour that the coach wanted to complete the paperwork before travelling to Chittagong for preparation.

Still no official word and they have all gone off to Chittagong! So, he didn't sign today, if he won't be signing in the next couple of weeks.

If he did sign, I see absolutely no reason to keep it quiet. Doesn't benefit anyone!

This is simply annoying. Why on earth is this hide ad seek game going on? Seems like both the parties (BCB & Dav) are in a rather nasty burgaining process that leads to nothing but the damage of our cricketer's mindset prior to England tour. This is quite unprofessional! Yo BCB, Just show him the door to go away or agree with his conditions/demands, but dont keep us fans and our players waiting in uncertainty!

India did not select their new coach yet. We have to wait I think.

Why do you dismiss the possibility that Daily Star simply wanted to write something interesting for its readers?

That could have happened. Or the BCB is waiting for the right time (dont know what the right time is) to unveil his contract if he does get one.

These are the other possibilities:

-There is some REAL problem in Dav's sigining the contract (something to do with India's offer) and Dav, BCB & players know it all... and they cant sign until the problem resolves.

OR

-BCB wasn't prepared to solve this matter so early.. but due to all the rumors, they are having to do it fast. They are just taking time to prepare a sound contract. Again.. maybe the players know it all too.

OR

-It's almost certain that Dav is leaving. They are waiting for official contract with India. Even in that case.. maybe the players know it!

It seems we fans are the only one that are in anxiety and annoyed about the whole mystery!!
:duh:

cricket horizon, there is one other possibility, which can happen in (may be) Bangladesh (only).

There is no one to type the contract so that everybody could sign on to something and/or they couldn't find a lawyer or an experienced somebody who would write the contract (hand-written one).

ha haa fahmida - that could very well be the reason :)
