View Full Version : Match Thread: Nazmul v Aftab, OD 5 (Simulation)
April 22, 2005, 06:45 PM
Hello and welcome to New Jersey for the double header which will end the regular season. Today's game will be played by the struggling Team Nazmul and the competition leaders Team Aftab. Team Aftab will be looking to wrap this one up. They are already assured of a final place and a win today would almost guarantee that we're going to Virginia for the final. For Team Nazmul they have shown some signs of getting stronger and will want to show it today infront of their home crowd.
The weather is fine and the pitch is looking very hard indeed. A few crack which may come into play tomorrow but this looks like a very good batting wicket.

Come on... win the toss.....
April 22, 2005, 06:55 PM
*Coin is tossed*
Match Referee: Heads it is, what would you like to do
Tehsin: We'll bat thanks
*Captains shake hands*
Reporter: You had no hesitation in choosing to bat, what total would you like to put on
Tehsin: On this pitch I think anything above 300 should be doable and it should be hard to chase. 300 could also set us up for the bonus point which would guarantee we host the final
Reporter: Are there any changes from the side that beat Team Nafis in the last one-dayer
Tehsin: None at all we want to keep the winning combination
Reporter: Oracle, you're obviously disappointed about losing the toss?
Oracle: Well yeah, of course we'd like to bat but now it's up to our bowlers to restrict them to a chasable total
Reporter: Have you changed your side much?
Oracle: Yes we have two debutants playing today, NasifKhan and Ovi Khan and they come in for Jubaitca and Mona
Reporter: Now you're playing infront of the home crowd for the first time today, will this pump up the boys?
Oracle: I think so, it will be a new experience and might add to the nerves but hopefully the crowd will get behind us and we can put in that little bit extra

i don't like the way it's headed. The umps just didn't do a fair job, we feel cheated of atleast 2 wickets. Oracle was definitely gone at 5. :(

42.1 Sport'anBD to Oracle, no run, Oracle was completely deceived as the ball turned sharply from middle
42.2 Sport'anBD to Oracle, no run, And again! This one turns even more and AgentSmith does a good job behind the stumps

42.4 Sport'anBD to Oracle, no run, Pitches outside leg and spinning in, Oracle's struck on the pad, appeal from the keeper but not out
42.5 Sport'anBD to Oracle, no run, Beaten once more and a slip comes into place now
42.6 Sport'anBD to Oracle, OUT, Great bowling! The slip does his job as the ball finds the edge of Oracle's bat. A huge over in terms of this game and they get the dangerman

25 off 23 ? 2 wickets .... shaping up to be an interesting finish
April 23, 2005, 02:07 AM
12 needed from 12 balls with 2 wickets in hand
Can Team Nazmul produce their first win in this competition?
April 23, 2005, 02:09 AM
we will file a formal complaint to the board about the officials for this match. Some of the decisions were hedious.
April 23, 2005, 02:12 AM
48.1 Piranha to Shaoun, no run, A lot of movement, Shaoun tries to whack it down the ground but misses
48.2 Piranha to Shaoun, no run, Beautiful yorker, Shaoun digs it out but can't get a run
48.3 Piranha to Shaoun, no run, Huge appeal for LBW but turned down, Shaoun sets off for a legbye by sent back by TAIF, Aka at short midwicket runs in but misses the stumps
48.4 Piranha to Shaoun, OUT, 9 down! What an over this is turning out to be! A bouncer right at the head, Shaoun tries to hook it but gets a top edge straight to Chinaman at deep fine leg
Shaoun 26 (37b 2X4)
c. Chinaman b. Piranha
48.5 Piranha to Fazal, no run, Driven back up the pitch, a diving stop by Piranha stops a run
48.6 Piranha to Fazal, no run, Fazal gives himself room and tries to whack it over cover but misses
What an amazing over that was by Piranha, a wicket maiden at this stage. Incredible maturity shown by the young man.
12 needed off 6 balls with just 1 wicket in hand
Radicalsami will bowl it
April 23, 2005, 02:16 AM
49.1 Radic'sami to TAIF, no run, Moved about a meter outside off, Radicalsami fires it in and misses off stump by millimeters
49.2 Radic'sami to TAIF, no run, Backs away and swings hard but doesn't come close to it. AgentSmith did well to take it standing up to the stumps
49.3 Radic'sami to TAIF, one run, At the hip, TAIF fends it down to square leg, they set off and Nasif misfields the ball! All he needed to do was pick it up and that was the game
11 needed off 3
April 23, 2005, 02:20 AM
49.4 Radicalsami to Fazal, three runs, Great batting from the number 11, takes a step to leg before the ball is bowled so Radicalsami bowls it full outside off. Fazal moves across and flicks it off his toes through backward square leg. Nasif chases it and they run on his throw! The throw goes wide and they make the run. That's two poor throws from Nasif which have cost them from wrapping up this game
49.5 Radicalsami to TAIF, FOUR, What a shot, meant to be a yorker but turned out to be a fulltoss and whacks it back over the bowlers head. Ovi Khan tried valiantly at long on but couldn't cut it off. 4 needed off the last ball. Radicalsami to bowl it to TAIF!
April 23, 2005, 02:24 AM
49.6 Radicalsami to TAIF, no run, Team Aftab wins it! TAIF moves past leg and Radicalsami bowls it short outside off, TAIF cuts it to deep point but doesn't bother running. Team Aftab hold on to win it by 3 runs and almost guarantee hosting the final
April 23, 2005, 02:28 AM
Great over that 49th one ...... we'll take some rest and prepare for the finals. Off to prepare for the four dayers.
April 23, 2005, 02:29 AM
Ovi Khan 6(6)
Man of the Match: Piranha (AFT)
Team Aftab 3-1-15
Team Nafis 2-1-10
Team Nazmul 0-3-0
April 23, 2005, 02:34 AM
So a huge improvement by Team Nazmul to come so close to victory. Disappointing in the end but they will take a lot of heart from this. Team Aftab will be glad to get out of trouble but have been showed there's a lot of work to be done before the final in 2 weeks time.
We'll be here again tomorrow for the final game of the home-and-away one day season. Team Nafis will need to win with the double bonus point to host the final.
April 23, 2005, 04:53 AM
a great game this one. was very exciting. i hope we win tomorrow with the double bonus.
April 23, 2005, 08:56 AM
A great game... too bad we lost..
:bravo: to both teams for playing well.... It was that over by Pirhana that got us.
April 23, 2005, 12:53 PM
Ovi Khan 2/74(10)
Two bowlers went over 70. I want to know why I wasn't allowed to bowl my quota.
April 23, 2005, 03:19 PM
I bowled well in the last over... could have been belted for those 12 runs but NO! tied em down to 9 runs :D YAY!
and 14 off 11 balls... yippee! not bad at all...
April 23, 2005, 04:10 PM
Team Nazmul saved the best for the last, but in vain... come on now Team Nafis, lets get the bonus points and host the final game in Toronto! We owe our fans some cricket that will make them proud!
