Siddikur off to slow start
Sports Reporter
Bangladesh's ace golfer Siddikur Rahman finished at joint 11th place after hitting a round of two-under-par in the first round of the Queen's Cup golf championship at the Santiburi Samui Country Club in Thailand yesterday.

Siddikur was the highest-ranked golfer on show, but it was local golfer Prayad Marksaeng who led the field after a fine round of six-under-par. India's Anirban Lahiri finished second with five-under-par.

On what leader Marksaeng told the Asian Tour website was "not an easy track", Siddikur played steady but unspectacular golf. In his round of 18 holes yesterday, the Bangladeshi struck three birdies in holes eight, fifteen and eighteen, but that was somewhat offset by his bogey in hole twelve.

Title holder Tetsuki Hiratsuka fared much worse with a round of two-over-par. The tournament finishes will run till June 19, when the fourth and final round will be played
