Cant compare leagues to test cricket
Leagues are based on money, players get traded, most players have equal facilities and exposure (since they all learned their skills in US, in similar conditions and facilities). Furthermore, if the franchise is really unsuccessful, it DOES get transferred to a different city. Players get transferred and traded every year. This all leads to a more or less even distribution of skill and talent in teams, and teams are more evenly matched. You can compare NFL with IPL, but not national teams.

National Cricket is different, cricketers learn their skills in varying environments. No two countries are the same. eg, Australia has a totally different domestic setup than Bangladesh. Home conditions are different, politics are different, and salaries are different. Indian players get paid millions while sri lankan players still havent received their payments from WC. Players dont get traded. This all leads to teams which are unevenly matched and theres a wide gap in skills/talent/mentality etc.
Comparing leagues and cricket is like comparing apples and oranges

Bangladesh will never ever lose its test status. Its way too important for ICC. Furthermore, BCB will always have the backing of PCB and SLC. PCB now needs BCB more than ever. This is precisely why Bangladesh was given test status (when it didnt deserve it).

Everyone says that Bangladesh should be relegated, and their Test status should be taken away. They point out the fact that countries like India, NZ, Pakistan, WI didnt lose that many tests. What they forget is that these countries got their test status when there was no ODIs, no T20. Players could only play test and were forced to do so. They already had a strong domestic 4-5 day cricket setup. So they learned to play test matches, and then moved to ODIs. For Bangladesh, it was the opposite. They started playing ODI before they got the test status. They didnt have a proper domestic setup. It may seem like a minor difference, but it is very difficult to learn test cricket from ODI. Test cricket is the ultimate test. You learn Test first, learn the skills, and then you can adjust to ODI and T20, not the other way around.

In my opinion, instead of relegating bangladesh, they should play more test, and avoid meaningless ODI and T20. their players like shakib and tamim need to play domestic competitions at home AND abroad. 4 day cricket that is, not limited overs. Get used to playing time, not overs. How often do Bangladeshis field for 150 overs? Obviously they are going to drop catches. They are not used to fielding for 2 days. Similarly when they bat, they play reckless shot, it all stems from ODI, simply because they are not used to bat for 90 overs. These habits develop because of constant supply on limited overs cricket.
