Power supply to Mirpur Stadium cut off
STAR ONLINE REPORT
The electricity supply of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium was cut off on Sunday as the BCB had pending dues worth approximately Tk 1 crore.
Explaining the reason behind the dues, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s venue administrator Col AKM Zaki (retd) told The Daily Star, “There is only one electricity meter for the stadium, the national cricket academy, the 86 shops in the stadium and the sports village. We have been paying the entire bill since 2007.”
“We had repeatedly asked the National Sports Council to make provisions for separating electricity meters in order to resolve the problem. However, that hasn’t happened,” he added.
Currently the BCB is working on resolving the issue by paying a portion of the dues.
