Limited resources, limited player pool yet amazing how they have been able to edge their more illustrious neighbours. Their success and development is all to do with strategy and correct thinking-not talent, or any other reason.

One thing also we must pick up from them is the importance of having the right person running the show, and actually listen to what he has to say and support as much as possible. From 1996, Sri Lanka has never compromised on the quality of head coach. From Whatmore to Dyson to Tom Moody to Trevor Bayliss. Their sacking of Geoff Marsh was heavily criticised, but at the end of the day Graham Fords stint has changed a lot of things. Now Paul Farbrace has taken over with the support of a strong back room with Vaas, Atapattu, Kalpage and Muralitharan.

Hard to imagine how BCB has the confidence in entrusting the cricket development responsibility to young coaches like Shane Jurgensen and Corey Richards.
