Were they successful? Did they have impeccable control over their line and length and were able to out think the batsmen? Could they swing a new bowl? And Rubel does not have the built! He is actually quite tiny by fast bowling standards. Goes to show that one doesn't have to be a hulk to bowl "fast".

Pakistan in their glory days did have greentops...at least, for Test matches. And, comparing BD to Pak or Aus isn't fair, either. They have been playing Test cricket for almost 100 years and have a cricket culture in place. We are not there yet. And, with our inherent learning dificulties it might take another decade or two to create such culture.
Absolutely the average choto khato Bangladeshi is not as strong as the average Punjabi or Pathan. Get em on the bench press and see the results. Then we have our diet...that's why our bowling is daal-bhat. You need a hi protein (animal protein). Otherwise you'll need to eat 1 kg daal with each meal and still not get your quota of essential amino acids.

Our culture is in SLA bowling and maybe in future batting. To develop fast bowlers both BCB and cricket culture need to change. Even solely based on genetics with our large population we will produce freaks of nature (Taskin, Mashrafee) who resemble Pakistani pace talent. But mindset needs to be corrected. Rubel regards fast bowling as a part time job. Shahadat treated it like a joke.

If mindset is fixed it is entirely possible to see us have 3 man attack not only quicker but more skilled than Pakistan's first choice attack.
