Ireland enjoys the highest development index rating out of all the test playing nations. Afghanistan has the lowest. If I'm a Zimbabwean or Afghani, I can continue to play for my volatile nations or I can play for Ireland and secure a better future for my children. I can continue to be a second rate Australian/New Zealand/English player, or I can play international cricket for a similarly developed and attractive country.
Immigration happens all the time. Why is it wrong for cricketers to do it just because they lost out on the lottery of birth?
