Perhaps, I read Daniel Dennet and Bertrand Russsel last year and they pulled me into it. I also manage a page in FB titled New Modernism which is actually Post Post-Modernism. Whoa, the beauty of philosophy is not restricted to one area of learning; it is multi-faceted. I can be a philosopher without ever reading a single work of those famous philosophers; it's at this stage you become your best thinker. The individual.
Oh yeah, that's completely a good approach in getting some sense of what the hell they are actually saying.
On a much different note, I regard Bob Marley as the greatest philosopher in the last half of the last century, and the last philosopher.
