We also did well in test vs South Africa last time they toured but rain ruined the outcome.

The recent dip in form vs WI in tests and Afghanistan in t20s cannot only be attributed to formats
The close T20 matches and all the Test wins that you are talking about came in subcontinental conditions, in pitches suited to our strengths.

But in ODI we managed to win against good teams even in alien conditions, e.g. 2015 WC, 2017 CT. So we are definitely more comfortable in the 50 over format.
Do all the sins you want to do while Sachin Tendulkar is batting, because God will not watch you when he is on the crease.
