If there is a benevolent God - it should not matter if you lead a good life (even if you do not conform to the rituals)
If there is a malevolent god - it does not matter does it?
If god is in between - Then god is not God
And to echo an old Afghan proverb -
If God is with you, why hurry? If God is against you, why hurry?
