I was having problems with my new laptop a few weeks ago. The speakers started making funny sounds.

Turned out by muting both 'Line Volume' and 'Mic Volume' in 'Master Volume', when not in use, the problem was solved.

I also turned off 'Microphone Boost' in 'Advanced' for 'Mic Volume'.

Not sure if that will help, because my integrated microphone was the problem.

I don't use the laptops speakers anyway. I have speakers on my desk, otherwise I use headphones.
