OpenOffice will run perfectly fine on it. OpenOffice is way less resource hungry than MS Office. If you don't need collaboration tools of Outlook; then there is no reason for using MS Office. Only thing that is holding big corporations on MS Office is Outlook. It the corporate email suite and collaborations which is real strength of MS Office.

For personal usage, OpenOffice is as good if not better than MS Office.
