Again, what does offending the image of islam mean? it might be sth for u and sth for the imam. That is precisely why some ground rules must be set, by some scholars of the quran.
Islam is a big vast religion and setting ground rules isn't gonna do anything substantial. Not everyone likes rules and man-made rules are broken in no time.
Quran lays out things clearly but you got to use the the brain to follow it. So what if it was written 1500 years ago? As far as we are concerned it does not incite violence and if people are gonna abuse and reabuse the rules then Allah will be the judge of that.
There is nothing you or I can do about it other than watch things unfold.
