I live in Sri Lanka. Its not that Sri Lanka has a fabulous cricketing setup. What is so good here is their school cricket system. There is so much of zeal and enthusiasm at that level that they are bound to produce quality players. The quality of coaching is also very good look. But best of all like Roebuck says is the availability of experienced players. Unlike Bangladesh players dont burn out at 24-25. Dilshan came out of his shell at a late age. Same can be said about Tharanga, Samaraweera and so many other cricketers. Such experienced players not only act as excellent mentors to the youth but also provide heavy competition.

In our case the Ashrafuls, Alok Kapalis, Mashrafees, Rajin Saleh, Nafis Iqbals, Tushar Imrans, Mehrab Hossain Jnr, Aftab Ahmeds, Enamul Jnr all showed promise when they started but got burnt out and fizzled out. This is one of the biggest mysteries of Bangladeshi cricket. Such talented cricketers start out so well but head to exile before they are even 25. Once these cricketers establish themselves and bring in experience can Bangladesh can a real boost.
