The first part of the quote pretty much says what he provided for the team even he got out in the wrong time and with a silly approach. Most likely staying in the wicket was his main goal set up by the team and he acheived that... that is soften the ball as well as the bowlers. But middle order consist of senior players failed to take advantage of that.
The 2nd part (last comment) is why I would like to stick with him few more series. Over that time, if he fail to show some progress, may be that is the time we should consider for his replacment.... not beofre that.
