Well OP has some valid points but let me tell you something about Brian Lara

His 401* against England was one which robbed West Indies from the oppurtunity to win the match. 401 runs means your team has to play atleast 150 overs alone and if you bat that long your team can't enforce a result which actually happened. Match ended in a draw.

Truth is Shakib is reckless. He is still immature

But nope, you can't call him SELFISH. Shakib is anything but selfish. He has never valued premier leagues over playing for country. He has done his level best to be fit for international cricket. He used to mention how playing worldwide would help his cause when playing for Bangladesh team.

The issue is that Shakib is not a high-impact player. He will always be a support player and an excellent one at that. That is the true role of "genuine" allrounders. They are not exceptional in either discipline but very good with both.

Our struggles are mainly because we have an opener who has played close to 300 internationals but he doesn't know anything wiser than dancing down the track against a pacer, and not to mention always choking whenever the team needs him. Even Imrul Kayes has better performances under pressure. And we then have the nerves to talk about Anamul or Litton, both who would have matured into much better batsman than Tamim if they even got half the oppurtunity and the freedom.

We have a middle order batsman playing since 2007 and he keeps on dropping dollies usually struggles to get past 30s.

We don't even have a quality specialist spinner.

Shakib is a limited player, has always been like that. But difference between him and the rest is that he has played to his potential.
