I would have been surprised had he (whatmore) not had those clauses. I would also be surprised if there are no financial and other penalties built into the contract. If you look at sports such as soccer, American football, NBA basketball, to name three, the coach/manager has huge amount of say in team selection. The concept of selectors in cricket is archaic, I don't see a lot of value, and I wouldn't be surprised if it alltogether goes away in a few years. It should be replaced with a scouting team whose job it is to identify talent.
As for the BCB people breaching the contract and exercising their own divine rights, in time they will have to change or else they will just hire and fire coaches every 6 months.
