A new breed of well educated cricketers is the only way out of the crisis we are stuck in. Our current cricketers are simply stuck in a loop of practicing basic technique and skills without expanding their knowlegde of the game of cricket itself. This lack of knowledge is hindering the conceptual understanding of overall match situations forcing them to resign to being spoon fed by the coach on what to do on elementary things like winning toss,team selection, bowling changes etc. we need cricketers who understand the game like Dravid, Sangakara, Ranatunga etc. At the moment we have a scarcity of cricket pundits amongst our ex cricketers, commentators, sports reporters, bcb officials, local umpires etc. The lack of knowledge is evident at all levels including the fan base. The Nasirs and shahadats will not change anything with their WWF celebrations or SRK emulations. We have to wait for a new generation of enlightened individuals willing to think and learn about the game they play.
