Unhappy Shakib out of cricket for one month due to a groin injury

Shakib given one month rest

Dhaka, March 12 (bdnews24.com) –Shakib Al Hasan is likely to miss the home series against Pakistan as the all-rounder has been given one month rest following his growing injury.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board plans to invite Pakistan later this month after their scheduled visit was suspended due to the Bangladesh Rifles mutiny.

If the itinerary is confirmed, Shakib will miss the entire series.

"He (Shakib) is likely to miss the home series against Pakistan and we are aiming to make him fit for the Twenty20 World Cup in June," cricket operations chairman Enayet Hossain Siraj told bdnews24.com on Thursday.

Shakib is playing for Bangladesh Biman in the ongoing Premier League and missed the last three rounds due to injury.

"I came to know from the team physio this morning that Shakib needs at least one month rest to recover from his growing injury.

"It will be clear after one month how much he improves," said Siraj.

Shakib, however, said that he felt no problem during walking, but felt pain while running.
