If killing was not a crime, then I would kill Whatmore if he plays him in the ODI team again.

As for him playing in test cricket, I don't mind at all.

Ok - what I said above, its involved with lots of strong emotions. Now let me talk some logic here.

The papers said that they had wanted another batsman so they had called him in. Lets see, how many batsman did we have in our 17 member team?

1. Hannan Sarkar (when we have such a confident player like Hannan Sarkar in our team, I don't know why we need a make-shift opener like Al Shahriar in the side)

2. Shahriar Hossain (may be he's the reason that Al Shahriar is called back? And also the absence of injured Javed Omar? We need a test match opener, and for a test match opener, Al Shahriar seemed to do pretty well, so why not?)

3. Habibul Bashar (I wonder if Al Shahriar is capable of being our next Habibul Bashar, we certainly know that he has the ability)

4. Rajin Saleh
5. Mohammad Ashraful
6. Alok Kapali

7. Ehsanul Haque (probably won't play in tests, if chosen ulimtately, he also hasn't proved himself as a batsman yet)

8. Mushfiqur Rahman (has batted in the middle order during the last England series, and also probably will bat in the middle order in the coming Zimbabwe tour)

So we have already got 8 batsman, among which 6 will definitely play in tests (Hannan, Bashar, Rajin, Ashraful, Mushfique, Alok).

So are the team management thinking of Al Shahriar as a Test Specialist Opener only? The only valid logical reason behind taking him into the national camp seems to be just that.

Like I said, it is the most logical assumption that I could have behind this incident, and it won't be such a good idea if what I think is right, to continue with him opening in the One Dayers, even if he scores some useful runs in the opening position in tests.
