Being a Bangladesh die-hard through thick and thin since the representative match with the MCC in late December, 1976, I've gotten used to questionable selection, totally unforced, usually batting errors, losing etc. Those things don't bother me nearly much as the lack of spirit and desire.
If our guys, as a cohesive unit, play with the type of spirit and desire we almost always see in the Irish, we may actually win more games in the process also. Hence having a positive attitude is critical for us as an emerging team, perhaps more so than others.
We may not be "as good" or "good enough" than many, but with right combination of spirit and desire, we can be the best on our day and snatch a win despite seemingly insurmountable odds. That's what happened against England and that's exactly what needs to become a regular feature of our cricket at all levels.
We're fortunate enough to have significantly better quality cricketers emerge with each generation, and ONLY when those guys grow up with that Spirit of '71 so to speak, and make it into the team from a maturing cricket culture, they will do themselves and our cricket proud. Our passion will do the rest InshAllah.
It is time to begin the begin and make our epic victory against the English into the watershed event it can be. It is time to crush the Orange and choke South Africa, and march into the quarterfinals with our heads held high.
