Default Bangladesh skip over India in FIFA rankings

The Bangladesh national team leapfrogged seven places to finish ahead of India and capture second place amongst South Asian teams in the FIFA rankings for September.

Bangladesh is now ranked 145th, just two positions behind the top South Asian nation Maldives, who remained stuck at their previous points tally of 117 points.

Bangladesh's highest ever FIFA ranking was 110 in April 1996.

However, this jump is only made possible because of a massive-slide by India, who slipped twenty-two spots to 160 from their previous 138th. They are now ranked behind Maldives, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka (148) and Nepal (156).

However, India is still ahead of rivals Pakistan (162) while Afghanistan (194) and Bhutan (198) are the bottom two sides in the South Asian region.

Even though it was mainly due to India failing then BD succeeding..still good to see us ahead..I'm hoping the soccer team makes strides under the new coach..
