definitely a good T20 batsman, great fielder but with this batting avg in ODIs don't see anything big coming in Test.
But good luck to him.
ODIs aren't always a good indicator of how a player will be in test match cricket, shehzad has an FC average in the 40s, he's only like 21, he might have a poor ODI record but still has 2 ODI tons and as we saw recently got a 70 and a 98* in consecutive international t20 matches all be it against zimbabwe. he's in good enough form and imo has good enough numbers (with the 40+ FC average, ODI tons, 98* international t20) to be given extended chances at the international level in every format, keep in mind he's only 21.

if shehzad doesn't deserve chances ahead of someone like imran farhat then no one does (which is ridiculous because imran farhat is completely average at the international level).

look at tamim, sure he's fallen away a bit in tests now but his ODI was probably less than 30 when he got his first chance in tests, he also had an FC average in the 40s like shehzad (still does), was a similar age, and look at what tamim has done in tests, for awhile he was averaging 40 got 4 tons, still averaging 37 which isn't too bad for a 24 year old.

i think what shehzad has achieved so far in his international career and domestic career shows that he has a lot of tools to be successful at the international level including tests. he may not have been able to have put it all together yet in ODIs but he is only 21 after all.
