Pre-match talk from Shahriar Nafees -

Quote:
“When we left Bangladesh (for CWC 2007) we wanted to reach the second round. We have worked hard and met our target. We had a bad game against New Zealand, the Australia match was reduced to 20/20 and was not a full game. Against South Africa we did not score the runs.”

Asked about the need to win the toss as “it has been an odd pitch” at the Kensington Oval, Shariar said “It would good if we win the toss. This pitch has been a bit bowler friendly in the morning but if the opposition win the toss (and put us in to bat) we have to bat well.”

“The pitch here has been a bit dry, and (against England) there was a bit of turn which helped our bowlers.” He then re-emphasised “We have to maintain our batting, bowling and fielding.”

Asked if he had seen Australia's emphatic win over Ireland, he replied “ Australia played tremendous cricket. After six good games, you can have a bad game.”

“Ireland is playing well as a team. They are putting things together and coming up good. Most of their batsmen are in a good patch now.”

As for Bangladesh, Shariar feels ”We have played very good cricket for the last year. We need to improve. We are improving. We need to improve in the next few days so we can beat one of the top teams in the world.”
