I don't feel the BCB had many options here given the mess surrounding the BPL, the delayed DPL, the T20 debacle over venues for 2014, the ad hoc committee, the captains resignation etc etc etc. It is simply easier to delay bridges you don't need to cross (like Head Coach searches and Captaincy) with no appetite to yet again advertise and be let down by the quality of applications.

For all that, Shane has done a decent job and he is popular with the players. The expectations of Bangladesh Cricket are extremely modest so simply having stability is genuinely an important goal right now. Just not being outplayed is a target, and even if a series is lost, as long as the side can win the odd game or two or be competitive, then this will be seen by many as progress.

We are unlikely to witness the 2010 'Banglawash' again but as long as BD isn't losing, it is winning.
