A google search might give more info. But so far I read, the way we observe this night is more to do with our culture, mainly biased/inspired by Persian thoughts, than by Prophetic Traditions. There are some hadiths referring Shab e Barat, but some muftis claim that their ‘chains of narrations’ are weak. Allah knows best. But in general, the month of Sha’ban has great importance in Islam.
