That was a BS ending to a good 1st test. England were too chicken to declare a bit early. Or they could've scored a bit quickly, with 9 freaking wickets in hand. They had to give Aus at least 50-55 overs to tempt them to go after the target of 290. With only 40 overs, they were never show any intent to chase it, may be in the olden days of Hayden. If Aus were chasing after it, they would've lost few wickets. Plus Eng bowlers were clearly bowlers of the test. Strauss had to show more faith on them to pick up 10 Aus wickets.

Now days both teams play for safeties and draws
