There are lots of good amateur players actually... Javed miandad famously quoted "there is a Irfan pathan in every streets of Pakistan".

It is impossible for a footballer (soccer player) to be playing in the street one month and than moving to a top european league the next. It never happens. Even the most talented ones are scouted and sent to academy. Where as in cricket there are countless examples of net bowlers turning into internationals in no time. (Waqar Younis being the most famous example)

In my school, we had two bowlers who could bowl over 125kmph easily. Although we never used any instruments but that was according to Opi (Mehrab hossain). At that time most BD national pacers were not much faster than my school bowlers. Infact Sujon was a lot slower and he was the captain.

Finally look at the hongkong team.. They are all amateurs and scored over 250 runs against a semi decent Indian team
