Media conference to take place in Dhaka ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup launch

The Bangladesh element of the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2011 will be officially launched in Dhaka on Saturday and there will be a media conference held in advance of that function.

The media conference will take place in the ballroom of the Sheraton hotel, Dhaka, starting at 1400 local time. All working members of the media are invited to attend. Prior to that, at 1300, lunch will be served to media representatives.

Among those present at the media conference will be ICC Vice-President and Chairman of the CWC 2011 Central Organising Committee Sharad Pawar, ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat, tournament director Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Mustafa Kamal and the convenor of the Central Organising Committee, Mahbubul Anam.

For the first time ever in Bangladesh, the ICC Cricket World Cup itself will be on display.

Bangladesh will host a total of eight matches during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, including the opening fixture and two quarter-finals. The event’s grand opening ceremony will be held on 17 February 2011 in Dhaka.
