IGP gave a press briefing yesterday, preliminary investigations are almost done - they remain hopeful of getting those responsible.

Of course the role the media has played in this entire tragedy has been disgusting to say the least. Not only by trying to score cheap political points, then haranguing the poor boy, but also giving away crucial information with regards to who the police thought was responsible.

Anywhere else, and responsible media would have not given away this sort of information, yet here, within hours - this info and heads up was given to the killers. The police deserve blame for this too - the family, and boy(being a witness, should have been under police protection or custody right from the start). You'd think they'd want to keep the only potential witness untainted and SAFE.

He is now under police protection.

Just a final thought - last night all the talk was about the media chastising itself in the search of an exclusive, and they rightly spoke about ignoring the plight of the child, but I didn't hear one person comment on what how much harm their leaking of information had done to the cause of the police - then again, this is standard for the media in this country, exclusives before principles.
