Default Things have gone in Bangladesh's favor so far- Thankfully

1. The opening match against Afghanistan. It gave us the opportunity to start the campaign on a positive note. There were lots of speculation about that match as Afghanistan being the new rising team and Bangladesh on the decline since the beginning of 2014. All the focus and energy was directed towards that match. It was good to get the monkey off our back early in the tournament.

2. The washout of the Brisbane match against Australia. Apart from that 1 point, the storm Marcia has saved us from a potentially demoralising defeat. A thrashing by the Aussie batsmen and bowlers would definitely shatter our confidence.

3. The Scotland match taking place before the England match. Playing an associate gave us a chance to get some momentum back after the big defeat against the Srilankans. By the time we faced England we already had two wins in our bag. So, the equation was simple- win this and you are away.

4. The venue of the match against England was Adelaide. Although many would point out that we got all our wickets from pace bowling, there is no denying that at least on paper Adelaide pitches suit our players more than the English. And this is the only match where we were encouraged to play two spinners. Although spinners didn’t get any wicket, they kept the scoring rate under control during the middle overs.

This post is not to undermine tigers’ achievement in any way but to express gratitude for being on the right side of things at least for once. Of course tigers had to make the best use of the opportunities came their way.
