It was extremely kind of Shakira to grace Bangladesh with her presence. People from the coastal region are mad about her and consider her an idol. I remember my last visit to the south and I vividly recall how Shakira's songs were blared from giant video screens in the innumerous nightclubs of Jessore, Khulna, Bagerhat, where people from all walks of life would gather and have a fun time dancing to her exhilarating tunes. There's a saying there that even the Chitrol horins and the baghmamas in the Sundarbans start shaking their hips when they hear Shakira's voice. This one of a kind visit from a person who is so close to their lives must have warmed their heart and given them immense courage.
