Shakib’s stitches removed
SPORTS REPORTER
The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) medical staff will discuss ways to accelerate the recovery process of ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, informed BCB’s sports physician Debasish Chowdhury. Shakib, who returned from Australia last Wednesday, had his surgical stitches removed at a city hospital yesterday.
“His recovery has been going according to plan. Now that his stitches have been removed, we can think about the next stage of recovery,” said Debasish. “We will have a meeting on Saturday and discuss measures that can help accelerate his healing,” he added.
Shakib’s right leg was operated upon in a hospital in Sydney on February 26 to correct his exertional compartment syndrome, one of three problems he was diagnosed with by the board’s physicians last month. The all-rounder is expected to return to international cricket a month from now.
