Rafiq,

It's not their fault. Our politicians have never openly talked about the security needs of Bangladesh. That is why ordinary Bangladeshis question the purchase of war machines when millions of people are deprived of basic human needs.

Bangladesh's geo-strategic location dictates that Bangladesh maintains a high level of defence preparedness to consolidate its security. Bangladesh is surrounded by military heavy-weights and it's geographical location is also a headache for India. India's North-Eastern 7 states are physically isolated due to Bangladesh's peculiar geographical location. This constitutes a major strategic weak point for India. Bangladesh's ever increasing economic and defence relations with China is also a matter of concern for India.

Bangladesh is the bridge between South and South east aisa. Usually countries with this kind of unique geo-strategic location maintains a powerful military. There are many other important reasons for which Bangladesh will have to be a military and economic power.

The policymakers of Bangladesh need to open up the military matters so that the people can know the security vulnerabilities of the country and understand how it could affect the country as a whole. Thank you.
