Default The Undefeated Dewey Bozella

Dewey Bozella was in his first and last professional fight, after doing 26 years for a murder he did not commit. The Light Heavyweight Champion of Sing Sing Prison in New York State, his dream was to fight as a professional while a free man.

Bernard Hopkins lent him his trainer, Danny Davis, who got him fit enough to get a licence from the California Athletic Commission for the fight.

Oscar de la Hoya, through Golden Boy Productions, put him on the undercard of the Hopkins/Dawson fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Dewey Bozella was fifty two years old, and after his defeat of Larry Hopkins, he retires with a record of 1-0, with no knockouts.

Here is film of the whole Dewey Bozella/Larry Hopkins fight.

As a side note, here is film of Lou Del Valle fighting Roy Jones Jr. Del Valle, as Golden Gloves champion, fought Bozella in an exhibition match in Sing Sing Prison, in about 1992, winning in the third round when a cut opened above Bozella's eye.
