he hasn't stepped up like they wanted him to obviously, his batting average has dropped and his bowling average has increased. he's also been horrendous in his t20 chances and selectors probably put quite a bit of weight from international t20 performances when considering selections for ODIs. he was looking like a quality all rounder at one point. use to think he should be pushed into the test team as the pace all rounder (sammy's spot) but now i'm not sure.
