BCB boss changed!
The Daily Star
A whisper snowballed all day yesterday that the government was all set to appoint a new president for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
But neither could it be confirmed from the government authority, nor by the BCB sources.
"We are also hearing this," was the common response from the people concerned.
And the name that came up in gossips as Lt Gen Sina Ibn Jamali's successor surprised many. The whispering was that Gazi Golam Dastagir, a ruling party lawmaker and a BCB director as well, was going to takeover the responsibility of the country's richest sports body.
Jamali was appointed the BCB president in July 2007 after the caretaker government had dismissed the executive committee of the board. A 12-member executive was also formed at that time.
As the board is gearing up for the preparation of the 2011 World Cup, speculations are also ripe that a change at the top is also very much on the cards.
