To Dosadeel:
This killed as many people as in New Orleans so far. Many dead in your capital of Islamabad. I hope you and your family are ok. I send you best wishes that everyone you know is ok brother.

Mother Nature can be very cruel. Vancouver is on a fault line here too, and we are all anxiously waiting for what the scientists say will be the BIG ONE.

Again, good luck, and I hope all your family is safe.
Thanks whiteguy. My family lives in karachi. I talked to them today, and they're fine. Karachi is way south, so they didn't even feel any aftershocks.

But yeah, its pretty bad there in and around Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Muzafarabad, and other parts of kashmir. 18,000 is the latest death toll, according to BBC.

Pakistan says more than 18,000 have been killed by Saturday's powerful earthquake that also hit northern India and Afghanistan. The 7.6-magnitude quake, with an epicentre 80km (50 miles) north-east of Islamabad, flattened entire villages. Another 40,000 people are believed to be injured, said military spokesman Major-General Shaukat Sultan.
