BCS Championship Game
New Orleans
| Ohio State vs. LSU | Jan. 7, 8 p.m. | FOX |
Well well!! What you know LSU is back in the BCS title game. wow!! Cases for Va Tech and Oklahoma can be made but LSU is a better team than both for sure. In week two LSU destroyed Va Tech 47-7. And for Oklahoma, they lost two games fare and square to unranked teams. LSU's both losses were three overtime games. How close one can be on winning both games? Then the strength of schedule played a huge role. LSU has faced
7 ranked team already to Oklahoma's
3 (Missouri twice).
Missouri got shafted and will face Arkansas at the cotton bowl. Both team has issues to solve. The Tigers are down because the way the bowl championship thingi played out. Kansas, who didn't play in the championship game, who got beat by Missouri in front of the national audience are going to the Orange Bowl. On the other hand, Arkansas, who beat LSU (most probably the champion of this Year) in the last game will be without their coaches. Head coach Houston Nutt has taken a job at rival Ole Miss and taken most of his coaching staff with him. These assistant coaches are already in the recruiting trail. How would Arkansas's player play without the coaches in the practice field? However, this would be the last game of 25 players including McFadden (Junior), Felix Jones (Junior), Payton Hillis (Sr), Marcus Monk (Sr). All of whom are projected to go either first round or second round in NFL. Who wants to go out as a loser?
Total of 9 SEC teams will be playing for the bowl game. South Carolina (Steve Spurrier) with a winning record didn't get the invitation. Who knew this when they were ranked 7th at one stage of the season?
Going Bowling:
9 teams from SEC (10 eligible - South Carolina got shafted),
8 teams from ACC (8 eligible),
8 teams from Big 12 (8 eligible),
8 teams from Big 10 (10 eligible - Iowa and Northwestern got shafted),
6 teams from PAC 10 (6 eligible) ,
6 teams from Conference USA (6 eligible),
5 teams from Big East (6 eligible - Louiville got shafted).
Bowl match up:
LSU - Ohio State: LSU is a clear cut favorite. (BCS championship game) At New Orleans another home game almost.
Virginia Tech - Kansas: I'd favor Kansas. However, from the last years tragedy at Va Tech, it would be nice for them to have a great year after a already good year. At Miami (Orange Bowl).
Oklahoma - W Virginia: Oklahoma is a clear cut favorite even if Pat White becomes healthy. At Arizona (Fiesta Bowl).
Georgia - Hawaii: Georgia all the way. Too good defense. At New Orleans (Sugar Bowl).
USC - Illinois: USC. At Pasadena (Rose bowl).
Florida - Michigan: Florida. Michigan will taste the samething that Ohio state tasted last year. At Orlando (Captial one Bowl).
