That's an interesting observation and a very sad one if it is true. Greenidge also once mentioned some of our veteran cricketers were more committed to club cricket than to the national team. I guess they considered a place in the nat'l team only as a leverage to increase their value in the domestic circuit.
However, I am not blaming them for their lack of commitment, there was no central contract, not enough international serieses to play. So they did whatever they needed to make a decent living.
