Default ICC Hand Bans For South African Duo

South Africa captain Graeme Smith and team-mate Andrew Hall have both been handed bans by the International Cricket Council.

The pair were both charged with breaches of the ICC code of conduct following an incident in the second one-day international against Pakistan in Lahore last Sunday.

Smith has been banned for one one-day international whilst Hall, who was also fined 50% of his match fee, will miss one ODI and two Test matches. Stand-in Pakistan skipper Yousuf Youhana was also fined 50% of his match fee for his involvement.

The penalties were imposed following a hearing in Rawalpindi after the fourth match of the series last night.

Smith was found guilty of a level two offence relating to the use of obscene or offensive language whilst Hall was guilty of two breaches of the code. The first was a for inappropriate and deliberate physical contact and the second for conduct that brings the game into disrepute
