SO is your house the one where they've set up the auto parts store, beside Cafe Mango? That place is already severely congested as it is, why the heck would anyone put a car decoration store there?

As for your argument that commercialisation isnt the cause, I beg to differ.... and I'm sure many people here will agree with me. Just the example of the auto decor store in what used to be a goli to kachukhet bazar is proof enough. Gulshan has become the Motijheel of Dhaka.

From all sides people commute to and from gulshan in their chauffeur driven cars, clogging up the roads. Those who cant afford the cars travel on the Navana human haulers and the buses.

FYI I live in banani quite close to the picture Mav posted. And the multitudes of Apartment buildings already house a substantial upper middle class that the roads here werent built for. And that there is another sign of greedy commercialisation when owners of 1 bigha plots tear down their 1980s 2 story houses for some extra moola and their "chhele-meyer jonno ekta flat".

If more people worked their legs and walked or biked, the congestion wouldnt be as bad as it is nowadays. And if anyone says the roads are unfit for walking, then I'd tell you that you're unfit to live in Bangaladesh.

Re: Antora -

Bashundhara is no longer river. The Balu river has been encroached and filled up on many sides giving you the newest in urban property development. NSU having shifted their campus to Bashundhara has clogged the entrance road manifold. And this when the private schools inside are on summer vacation. Just wait till IUB finishes their campus and GrameenPhone HQ moves there end of this year!!!
