Along with many other things, these trials are an opportunity for lawyers, on both sides, irrespective of their qualifications and expertise, to make a name for themselves.
It is certainly true of people like Toby Cadman, one of Jamaat's foreign counsel, who has openly admitted it himself as well as the domestic defense team, where some of the senior counsel must be dreaming of becoming Law Minister/State Minister for Law/Attorney General one day when the BNP-Jamaat nexus is in power.
The same can be said about AL lawyers, who are calling in favors and tapping old filial and geographical connections, so as to secure prosecution or tribunal positions.
