I don't think any motherboard manufacturer ever made AXP mobo with PCI-X slot. I guess server class motherboards for Athlon MP are discontinued.

Athlon XP is not the best CPU for video editing. Dual core Opteron, Athlon 64 X2s will perform are much better. Even single core Athlon 64s are better than AXP for video editing. But you may not get any Socket 939/Socket 754 motherboard with PCI-X slot. So you have to get Opteron and compatible socket 940 motherboard if you want to get AMD.

Pentium D is probably the best cost effective solution, especially if you get the 805 model (2.66 Ghz, 533 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache). How much Pentium Ds cost now?
