If you try and have an official Olympic tournament it becomes too difficult though. Countries will send undermanned squads if it clashes with a domestic T20 or existing international fixtures, etc. And then the question of what to do with West Indies. Do Jamaica, Guyana, etc compete separately? Do England, Scotland and Wales compete or does Great Britain? Then they can't be full international matches, which diminishes the value of the event.
Amazingly cricket has actually happened at the Olympics once before, in 1900. Great Britain beat France in the only match:
