Ireland name winter squad
Dec 19, 2007
Ireland's World Cup captain Trent Johnston will lead a winter training squad of 22 players, including opener Jeremy Bray - back in the reckoning after ruling himself out of the second half of the 2007 season.
Coach Phil Simmons will focus primarily on the winter squad when he comes to pick his pre-season tour party to UAE and Bangladesh.
Several notable names - such as John Mooney, Dom Joyce, Kenny Carroll, Jason Molins and Dave Langford-Smith - are missing from the 22.
Seamer Langford-Smith has opted out of contention for a squad featuring under-19s Gavin McKenna, Paul Stirling, James Hall and leg-spinner Greg Thompson.
O'Brien brothers Kevin and Niall have also been chosen - the Northamptonshire wicketkeeper named along with fellow English-based professionals Will Porterfield, Boyd Rankin, Eoin Morgan and Gary Wilson.
